It started in Garstang
Heading out for the M55 it's a beautiful motorway
But in the wrong direction

I first saw Jimi in 75
Stood on the cowling of a seaplane not alive
But more like a saviour

I sat by the lakeside
Checking up on the stove and the gear for a very long holiday
To where the spirit takes me

He landed like a star on Derwentwater
His face was drawn so I offered him a quarter
Of Kendal mint cake

Driving the ghost of a famous 60s rock star
Around and around ’til we've built the energy
Living in the back of a camper van
The lakes are great and we do the best we can
One day we'll make it

We're parked in a lay by
Filling up with some beans on toast and a very nice Chardonnay
To mark the occasion

In a white silk shirt and skin tight pants
He can't sing a note and he's banned all instruments
You've got to respect it
