The Last Refuge Of The Lonely Here comes the wave Of expectation It washes over Then crashes into the sea Now’s not the time To resist the contemplation Of all the force That can break the human mind It lies before you Wants to Catch you Reel you Into the night The last refuge of the lonely Stand with the legion Of souls that are displaced now Don’t come to me For the things that make you happy I’ve seen enough For a lifetime of abstinence now Here we go again Into the clutches of despair From a lifetime that prepared us for this There is nothing unexpected in the end And now we Must begin To let them in The child without a reason Empathy and sanctuary Become the last refuge of the lonely And now we Must begin To let them in The child without a reason Empathy and sanctuary Become the last refuge of the lonely

Breaking Away Leaving it all for now Someday I’ll catch you up The future starts tomorrow There’s nothing in the way I will look for a ride on the highway And all my things are broken No money set aside I’m waiting for more things to slide And in the final moments When leaving through the door I turn back and line up for more Inside, outside I’m on the wrong side Praying for something to go my way Upside, downside failure is implied Taking my chances and breaking away Could this be the moment When things are gonna change I’ve so many things to arrange The choices are distracting And time’s not on my side So slowly the chances pass by Inside, outside I’m on the wrong side Praying for something to go my way Upside, downside failure is implied Taking my chances and breaking away Inside, outside I’m on the wrong side Praying for something to go my way Upside, downside failure is implied Taking my chances and breaking away

Ride The Great Spiral Ride the great spiral With hollow eyes Internalised Through the strange commotion That’s all around You hit the ground In an altered state of mixed emotion There’s a headline reading like your Destiny Destiny To the top of the tower Let’s ride again This smooth terrain In an altered state of mixed emotion There’s a headline reading like your Destiny Destiny Lying still and broken Fell from the slide No one arrived In a final state of pure emotion Now the headline represents your Destiny Destiny

Heaven Help Me Broken In a solitary moment Realising things will never change And when the day is done You placed your bets but you never won All that’s gone before won’t help anyone Until the bitter end Hopefulness is your only friend Waiting for the rules to finally bend Come the time When it’s over Looking forward To the closure Heaven help me Let’s consign this awful mess to history Tear the world apart File away this broken heart Duty must be done You are the only one Heaven help me Save another broken refugee Until the bitter end Hopefulness is your only friend Waiting for the rules to finally bend Heaven help me

Dead Planet Cemetery Bring me bunches Of golden roses Bring them to me right now Bring me loganberries From the consular garden Years of searching Never seen this sight before Tears always flow outwards Time and time and time and evermore When it's over Dead planet cemetery Resting Nothing here to see When it's over Dead planet cemetery Waiting For the end to come to me When it's over Dead planet cemetery Waiting For the end to come to me

Squaring The Circle Night seems to last forever Waiting for the bells to chime Still wide awake No give and take Just want some Relaxation time Squaring the circle Towing the line The devil’s working overtime It’s not a pleasure More like a crime Is the devil’s nightmare just like mine? In the brightness of the morning Try to navigate the way More wrong than right Fearful of the night Extinguishing the light of day Squaring the circle Towing the line The devil’s working overtime It’s not a pleasure More like a crime Is the devil’s nightmare just like mine? Grey skies with pale moon and flickering sun There’s no need to tell me the devil has won Squaring the circle Towing the line The devil’s working overtime It’s not a pleasure More like a crime Is the devil’s nightmare just like mine?

The Orchard 04:56
The Orchard Lazy morning Maybe night will come to save me Coloured in shades of pastel light Drifting forward Endlessly Towards the boundary Of the finish line In the nick of time Trepidation Wins me over Seek Seek out the orchard Where the sun above Brings the growth Brings the love As the leaves fall And the shimmering distracts me From a train Of thought that plagues me In the midst of dreamt delay The rain comes pouring down But it’s warming And the fatal stars Still frown All the grace and all the light falling down from heaven’s gate Into the orchard Bearing ample fruit on the trees that serve to Comfort me In this time of need Rain drenched orchard Haven of enchantment All the grace and all the light falling down from heaven’s gate Into the orchard Bearing ample fruit on the trees that serve to Comfort me In this time of need Rain drenched orchard Haven of enchantment Kept in memory

Golden Fleece Summer breeze Golden fleece Rescued then Sacrificed in Situ And taken to a Sacred Sacred grove that is Hidden Hidden from view for protection Resting calmly by a tree Never sleeping always free Guarding Golden Fleece that has been woven For the sake of absolution If the dragon bares it’s teeth Ranks of soldiers are complete Guarding Golden Fleece that has been woven For the sake of absolution Worship of ancients Sun god of Ra Winged ram So golden Is sired Within The enclave of Posiden’s temple Worship of ancients Sun god of Ra Winged ram So golden Is sired Within The enclave of Posiden’s temple

about

Squaring The Circle is the fourth full studio album by Amanda.

A collection of eight songs performed by Amanda and written by Steve Blakeley.

Amanda takes on all lead and harmony vocal duties backed by the Verulium band comprising Steve on guitar and keyboards, Finlay Smythe on bass and Mark Durrant on drums.

The album bobs and weaves through stories of modern life with high energy classic rock infused tracks such as Breaking Away through to more reflective, melodic pieces such as The Orchard providing a perfect platform for Amanda’s heartfelt performances and captivating harmony arrangements.

For those who enjoy a more progressive rock flavour, fear not since tracks such as Golden Fleece and Dead Planet Cemetery will not disappoint and many songs often venture into more ethereal territory.

We hope you enjoy this collection of songs as much as we enjoyed performing them and look forward to perhaps hearing from you if you decide to download the album. A huge thank you if you do.
